program. An independenttest of water samples from
around the test site was conducted by Citizen Alert
(Reno, Nevada) at 14 locations(table 4-3).
Citizen Alert found no detectable levels of tritium
or fission products in any of their samples. With-
Standing any major change in the watertable, there
currently appears to be no problem associated with
groundwater contamination offsite of the Nevada
Test Site.
MONITORING CAPABILITY
The combination of: 1) the monitoring system
deployed for each test, 2) the onsite monitoring
system run by DOE, and 3) the offsite monitoring
system run by EPA, forms a comprehensive detection system for radioactive material. There is
