Dear Senator Borja:
Thank you for your letter of May 23, 1975, concerning the attitude
of the Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA) toward
additional compensation for the people of Rongelap and Utirik.
As
noted in your letter, recommendations of the Atomic Energy Commission
(AKC) relative to this matter were stated in my letter of August 7,
1974, to Mr. Thomas D. Dunmire, Staff Consultant to the Committee on’
Interior and Insular Affairs of the House of Representatives.
The
‘transition iavolved in the absorption of relevant components of the
AEC into the new agency, ERDA, has not affected the agency policy
in this regard,
JI can, therefore,. reiterate the views expressed in
my letter of August: 7.
T share your wish
+
to con fines the excellent working relationship that
_we have enjoyed in the pas
Sincerely,
