The problemof movingthe nativesfrom the EniwetokAtollWaS
turnedover to CtiCPacby directiveof the Secretaryof Defense. This
had been a particularlydelicatematterbeforethe Biktiitests. It
was undertakenby CtiCPacas Civil Admhistrator for the Pacificareag
ratherthan by the Task Force Commander,whose co~izance in this
matterwas limitedto the EniwetokAtoll only.
On the 25th of November,Lt. Col. Woolnoughdepartedfrom
Washingtonfor Oahu to set up the J-3 (Forward)echelonthere. It
had been hoped that the TroopList would be complete by this time,
but again it was necessaryto set back the deadl~e date, as the Air
Force list was not~yet firmedfor the reasonsbeforestated.
