The extreme secrecy in which the operation was conducted at first was the cause of many difficulties in providing logistics. Sup- porting canmands, such as Naval Shipyard, Pearl Harbor, and Naval Supply Center, Pearl Harbor, were unable to dissemimte information to a degree which would provide maximum efficiency in ready ing the ships for the operation, end Commanding Officers and Supply Officers of vessels engaged in "SANDSTONE" found difficulty in getting high enough priority for delivery of needed parts, etc., without violating security. An additional difficulty arose over carrying out directives concerning the submission and dissemination of movement reports for vessels and yet observe all security restrictions.
