A HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
Extencing the life of the Special Joint Committee Concerning
Rongelap and Utirik Atolis.

WHEREAS, under Pubiic Law No. 4C=-33 as enacted by the Second
Regular Session of the Fourth Congress of liicronesia a Special
Joint Committee Concerning Rongelap and Utirik Atolls was created
and given the mandate, among other things, to investigate the
results of irradiation on the people of Rongelap and Utirik Atolls
in the Marshall Islands District; and
WHEREAS, the said Special Joint Committee Concerning Rongezlap
and Utirik Atolls submitted to this First Pegular Session of the
Fifth Congress of tiicronesia a report containing its findings and

recommending additional matters that this Congress should further

investigate; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Fifth

Congress of Micronesia, First Regular Session, 1973, the Senate
14
concurring, that the life of the Special Joint Comittee Concerning
15
Rongelap and Utirik Atolls as created by Public Law No, 4C-33 is
16
hereby exteaded until March 30, 1975,

shall have the same functions, duties, powers, and responsibilities
.

as specified by Sections 3 and 4 of Public Louw No. 4€-33; shall
19
have the same Comittee membership and composition; and shall, in
20
addition, have powers and responsibilities to iavestigate
21
the question of compensation for property damage to the islands
22
and atolls and peoples thereof, aud any other and related matters
