1 t vetsels of the e:docardiua of the left atrium. The mitral valve wes also prominently gaundiced and some cengestion was observed near the base. The right atrium was moderately enlarged end the endocardium was flocculatéd. The tricuspid valve was also moderately jaundiced. nyocardiun was measured as follows; The thickness of the Left ventricle, 2 cn; left atrium, 1.8 cm; right ventricle, 0.8 cm; right atrius, 0.6 cm. {All measurenents vere nade at the thickest part.) LUNGS, Weight: left, 540 g; rireht, 843 g. pleura has been noted. The adhesion of the Prevsure on the lungs produced a turbid yellow ‘eos Moe ws ¢ n secretion from the rain broschus. Right lung: most of the upper lobe was indurated. The pleura was ele:atous. In section there was a focus of inéection larger than a goose egg in the regions of S, and 8 of the right apex of the lung, rezinisceat of grey henatization. Other regions were hichly edenito:3; the air content vas lew and the blood sipply was not very creat. Left lung: there was an indurated area arger than a hen's egg in the region of 83 below the ciavicle. The pleura was edemztous, and furry Bibrinous areas were seen hcre and there. The places where adicsicns were pseled off were especially brilliant red. In section, this part of the upner lobe presented a focus presumably sarcoid vith eosnular or clustered necrocis the size of the tip of the hunk. this feca3 v8 the coaster of a heavy congestion. A long, old, grey, cotic focus the size of the little finccrtip was chserved at a place near the back about 3 ca above the lover rargin, at the side of the pleura of the lover lobe; the surrounding stroma hed increased to the size of a gecce-cosg and there was a cluster of foci assumed to be those of inter- stitial rscuronia, spreading to the circunferencze, BGencath the pleura, at the lovscr exterior part of the lower lebe were old light grey-white foci of pneumonia about the size of the tip of the thumb or little finger. There was a distinct rib trace on the surface of the pleura in this area. (See photograph No 3.) 1}. The other lung areas were prominently edematous, with alzost no air and a great quantity of exudste. It is noteworthy that all pnewionia foci were apparently of the type caused by rnold, suh as a filamentous fungus, LYUFH MODES f.e lyi 2 or 3 ret cust. The tip of the ph notes at the bifurcation of the trachea were the size of toai3 asd crey-red in color, showing slight ceposits of cual lycch nedes of the lower left bronchus were the size of the little finger, flat, with a grey-red cortex, and showing coal d:st deposits. The lymph nodes of the left lateral trachea were scarcely pereeptivle. Thore rere two lycph nodes on the left bronchus and they o were respectively the size of a scy bean ard a red bean. The cortex sjoved deyisits of coal dust and the other parts were grey-red, but not of a wedullar shape. There were several lymph nodes on the left lateral rachea, a3 large a3 beans aad light red in color. The two lymph nodes at the arch of the aorta were respactively the size of a long soy bean and a red bean, ‘The larger one shoved cecal Gust on the cortex axd the sualler one at the center. These vere light red in section and not of a eedullar shape. It is notevrorthy that the lymph nodes below the basin of the lunps were rather atrophic. TEYUS. US DOE ARoHivEa As above.
