Dear Mr. Heast
According to instructions from Dr. Paul B. Pearson of the
Division of Biology and Medicine, Atomic Energy Commission, -
I am sending you three dozen each 5~gallon and 1-gallon cans.
These are to be used for the collection of sammlcs of seawater
and coral 2s discussed with Dr. Pearson. The coral samples
should be live-coral taken from both the lagoon and oceanside
of the islands. A sample which will half-fill a l-galion can
is adequate. If possible, it should be rinsed in fresh water
before plecing in the can forshipment. The seawater sample
should be taken near the coral sample locations. The can may
be filled directly with surface water and samples should not
be taken immediately following rain to prevent inclusion of
fresh water with the sample.
