As ociation GAMA) publishes, "Thyroid
Neoplasia in Marshall Islanders Exposed to Nuclear Fallout," by Thomas E. Hamilton,
Gerald van Belle, and James P. LoGerfo from the University of Washington. Using
results from examinations of 7,266 Marshallese from 14 atolls, including southern
atolls, the authors studied the risk of thyroid neoplasia in Marshall islanders exposed
to radioiodines from CastleBravo.
Their study reveals that "an excess of thyroid
nodules was not limited only to the two northern atolls but extended throughout the
northern atolls; this suggests a linear dose-response relationship."
