The Los Alamos Laboratory is making preparations to conduct, on the
Laboratory's Government-owned land, certain classified experiments involving
high explosives and nuclear materials.
To avoid acattering of toxic radioactive
materials, the experiments will be carried out in relatively shallow holes in
the mesa top.
Drilling of the necessary holes is presently under way.
or no nuclear reaction is to be expected from any of these experiments.
Little
If,
in some, a reaction should occur, the nuclear energy released should be less
than that freed from the burning of one pound of conventional high explosive.
