This phee of engineer activities begins with the briefing of the
Task Force Er@neerby
the Jotit Ta$k Force Co-rider on 3 October 1947
and extends roughly to the 30th of November. Minor changes or additions
to plans were znde throughout the period of operation, tit essentially
all basic plaming and mobilizationwere completed by the end of Novewnber.
The engineer mission was to construct the Atomic l%ergy Proving
Ground on I!hiwetokAtoll
in
accordance with specificationsdetermined
by the Atomic Ehergy Commission, and to p!wride land-based housing and
utilities at the site of test operations as dete~d
by the Joint
Task Force Commander. Completion date was set at 15 *rch 1948.

were procured by the Task Force Engineer, using normal semdce channels
and facilities of the Western Ocean Division of the Cows of Engineers.
