Annex G to'CTG 7,2, Operation Plan Now 3-53 (Cont'd)
BIKINE Atoll: The premise upon which the defense of BIKINI
Atoll is basad is that because of the relatively small military force
stationed there, it is not feasible to attempt to defend on: the ground
all the military and AEC facilities located on BIKINI Atoll without
support from elements of the Task Group located at ENIWETOK. The movcment of supporting elements from ENIWETOK will bo accomplished by air/or
surface transport upon order of CJTF SEVEN, Until the arrival of supporting elements at BIKINI thé security of the BIKINIair strip and of the
LST loading area is vital.
Areas to be defended, in order of priority, are as follows:

Army Signal Det Communications Center.
Enemy Forces:

(1) Enomy farces in the event of general hostilities will
be those of the Soviet Union and its castern European and Asiatic satellitos,
(2)
Indigenous communist groups in anti-Soviet and neutral
countries will support the Soviet bloc,
(3) The USSR and its satellites have given no indication
of relaxing their drive toward world domination and are maintaining an
advanced state of preparedness for war. The Sovict Union will probably not
initiate overt warfare so long as other means are successful or unless it
scoms evident that the U.S, and its allies are becoming so strong as to
prevent the further spread of Communism, For additional details see Annex C.

Friendly Forces:
(1)
1G 7.3 supports TG 7.2 with naval surface transport ,
naval gunfire, close air support and personnel augnentations for TG 7,2
combat security force (TG 7.2 Combat Company).
(2) TG 7.4 supports TG 7.2 with air transport for TG 7,2
combat secarity farce from ENIWETOK toll to BIKINI Atoll on order of
CJTF SEVEN, air reconnaissance, aerial resupply and evacuation, and pere
sonnel augmentation for TG 7.2 combat sccurity farce,

G.7.1 supports TG 7.2 with military personnel augnen-
tation for TG 7.2 combat security force,
(4) 1G 7.5 supports TG 7.2 in preparation for defense and
emergency loading of vessels,

MISSIONS:
In the event of a WHITE alert TG 7,2 will:
a. Make necessery adjustment of atoll security forces to pro=
vide maximum physical defense of the ENIWETOK=<BIKINI ATOLLS against overt
acts and landing parties commensurate with the means and latest inform
tion available.
b,
Be prepared to move ground defense units either by water or
air transportacLon vO wie sccne vs atly vueumy threat within che danger area,
Cc, Prepare and improve appropriate ficld fortifications in the
aroa or island considered to be most susceptible to attack,
d, Conduct final coordination with ATCOM ENIWETOK, and other
Task Group commanders as required for implementation of these defcnse
measures,
