COMMUNICATION AND CONTROL DISTRIBUTION
The complete "Telephone system for Eniwetok Atoll consists of mammal common battery
switchboards located on Eniwetok, Parry, Engebi, Biijiri, and funit Islands and
aboard the U.5.S. Curtiss. Japtan is served from Parry switchboard; Musin and
Teiteiripuchi Island are served from Engebi and Piiraai and Bokonaarappu Islands
are served from the switchboard on Biijiri. These switchboarde are interconnected
by an inter-ialand and buoy cable system backed up by radio telephone circuit."
That portion of the complete system located on Parry consists mainly of overhead
wire and cable strung on poles, buried cable, and service to 300 phones. The
intercommnication and sound powered telephone distribution provides direct service
between important locations without going thru the switchboard. Commnication
and control distribution is provided to the various islands by connection to
wubmarine cables.
