DELIBERATIONS ON RESETTLEMENT OF BIKINI ATOLL

Those who attended will recall the meeting convened on January 24,
1967, to consider the available information on radiation levels on:
Bikini Atoll.
Information that would be required to make a decision on
whether or not it would be safe to return the Bikini natives totheir
home atoll was reviewed.

At that meeting, we determined that available
Plans were outlined for a resurvey of the Atoll.
A primary part of this resurvey woula be a comprehensive external radiation survey.
A team headed by Dr. Edward Held spent a total of 16 working days
on the Atoll in April-May 1967.
The reports from this group are now
available.
We believe that data aré now available for further consideration of
the primary resettlement question;
The next step is to convene a meet-
