Mr. William A. Bonnet, Manager
United States Atomic Energy Commission
Honolulu Area Office
P.O. Box 580
Honolulu, Hawali 96809
Dear Mr. Bonnet:

I am in receipt of a letter from Bill Streenan and a copy

of Dr. Conard's letter to you dated December 29, 1968.

Dr. Conard stated that it would be wise to send a Global
representative to Rongelap to inspect the AEC facilities
there to determine what maintenance would be required. He
further stated that he was concerned of the expense since
AEC Travel funds are limited and sending someone from Global
to Rongelap with the team would require him to be there the

entire time since no return transportation was available,

I called the Trust Territory representative here to see if
transportation was available to return me from Rongelap
since I had planned to go and he told me there wasn't any
except what will be available to Dr. Conard.
I have made a study of what it would cost to send me to

Rongelap about $1,400.00 plus the cost of travel on the
Ralik-Ratak if any.

Since there is a concern over the travel funds I have an
alternate suggestion and that is the representative not go

to Rongelap and have Dr. Conard and his technicians make

a study of what maintenance be required and take necessary
photo's and give the information to me and I will prepare
an estimate of what would be needed and on next year's
survey send a work team up to Rongelap to perform the tasks

as requested by Dr. Conard.
