De P. King Technical Director Office for International Conference United States Atomic Energy Commission Washington 25, D.C. Dear Doctor King: Two associates of cura plan to be in the Geneva area at the time of the International Conference on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy and I think that they could make an {mportant contribution if ad- mitted as observera to the Conference. Professor Robert K. Mortimer is a blophysicist who is a epecialist in the field of radiation genetics. He is a co-author of a paper entitled "The Action of Penetrating Radiations on Yeast Cella" which I shall present orally on September 9. It would be very valuable to have him there, as he had an extremely important part in this work, Charles Sondhaus, Ph.D., ie a biophysiciat from our laboratory who is at present working at the Karolinska Inetitute in Stockholm on problems in radiation effects with our Swedish colleagues, Dr. Sondhaus has done a great deal of work in fallout measurements during and after bomb tests and has also done important work in the field of hemopolesis. te kewould appreciate Lt very much if these manjcould be granted the: Mire fae ., TARE ele,‘of observer. | . toy > fo ae rh . . ‘awa .
