Dear Mr. Johnston:
This is to inform you that it may become necessary to have a delay
in the forthcoming special medical survey of the Rongelap people
scheduled for March 1, 1970.
I have been hospitalized with a back
condition which may necessitate surgery in the near future.
It is
entirely possible that it may be the middle or last of March or even
later before I am recuperated sufficiently to participate. It is
therefore possible that the survey may have to be postponed accordingly.
I will keep all of the recipients of copies of this letter informed
as to the status of the situation and will set a firm date for the
survey a8 soon as possible.
