Dear Bill;
This is simply to make formal may oral invitation to
you to join me 4n witnessing one or more of the
detonations in the 1956 series of nuclear tests te
be held at Enivetok.
As I indicated to you previously, I plan to make the
trip during the last two weeks of June. It now
appears that I will depart Washington on about
Jane 15 so as to arrive in the forward area at a tine
to perait observation of the detonation of one of our
megaton test devices. In general, the trip will
follow a senedule of three days spent en route
iniwetok, with overnight stops at Travis Air Foree
Base in California and dickam Air Force Base in
Hawaii, a stay of four days in the Pacific Proving
Groandarea, and a period of four days spent on the
retara trip. All told, the tine away fromWashington
will be about elaven or twelve days.
My staff ie making the necessary arrangements for the
trip, and I will provide you with additional information
as it becones available.
