This is in response to your letter of January 3, 1969, on the .

The Atomic Energy Commission does net possess any small aucilear power —
plant of the type that would be suitable for the Bikini commatity.
However, the AEC has developed small auclear power plants for Army
application. The Army contact for obtaining informetion oa these
units is Colonel Robert L. Ednie or Mr. Ralph Herden, Muclear Power
Division, Office of Chief Army Engineers, telephone 11-72228.
On the sunken ships, the AEC does have information on the number and
lecation of these ships. However, the AEC would need to obtain more

On another subject, I am pleased to inform you that the AEC has con-

summated a memorandum of understanding with DOD on the Bikini cleanup.
