The primary requirement was a processed sample of sufficient size (volume) to provide two aliquots for comparative radiochemistry. Once the aliquots were made, the samples were packaged in suitable containers (aluminum bean or tuna cans, plastic vials, paper cartons, etc.), labeled, and sorwarded for analysis. The procedures used at LLNL to process the various sample types are described in detail in a previous paperof this series.!
