Ms.Ruth Clusen
Assistant Secretary for Environment and Safety
Department of Energy
Washington, D.C. 20545
Dear Ms. Clusen:

Since I will be retiring in a few months, I thought it might be
desirable to write the attached brief summary of the radiological
Status of the Bikini people. As you know, there has been considerable
publicity about moving the people off Bikini again. I have been involved with the medical studies in the Marshallese affected by fallout
for the past twenty-five years and during the past ten years with the
Biniki people. So I thought it might be useful to briefly review my
as¢uciation with the Bikini problems.
If there are any points needing further clarification, please let
me know.
Congratulations on your appointment.
Sincerely yours,

Robert A. Conard, M.D.
