_wsespended.
French financlal ald to Tunisla, which was suspended in May,
was resumed in July and may reach $30 milllon this year.
Tunisians and Moroccans are sensitive to U.S, control over the
administration of aid programs, and it is axpected that France will
become increasingly resentful of our intentions toward the area as these
programs get under way.
We plan to pursue our present policy of
exchanging information with the French on our programs and of
encouraging their continued military and economic agsistance to, and
Influence in, North Africa.
