an WiDLedesicnea’ count-rate meter.
Tnis count-rate
meter nas 7 scales ranging in sensitivity from 10 counts
per second full scale to 1000 counts per second full
scale,
Tne output of the count-rate meter controlled the
Y coordinate of a Noseley futocraf X-Y plotter, while the
x coordinate was varied by the base line bias of the
analyzer.
A modification in the form of 2 potentiometer
in series with the X input allowed fine adjustments fo be
made in matching pulse heignt to particular lines on the
recoraing paper.
<A sypical recording made by the X-Y
recorder is shown in Fis. 2.
Tne resulated hizh-voltase supply for the photomultic
plier tube was constructed from a UCRL design.
PROCSDUTE
Tne fallout samples were supplied by Project 2.6.3
in 3/4-ineh in diameter by 2-inch in length polystyrene
containers each containing approximately 50-1000 microcurles total activity. . Descriptive information about each
-
sample, tne effective fallout area it represents, and its
associated shot is listed in Table1<
Samples were obtained from 2 types of collectors.
Tho
cloud sample consisted of material caught on a filter paper
through which a representative sample of air was drawn as
