2. Byiwetoks Chart indicates a buoy on the 1+ fathom shoal

spot at Latitude 11° 23.6'N, Lmgitude 162° 20'S. There is

(ad) Information cmcerning beaching sites, chmnels, landings and

other shore facilities was considered adequate for the purposes
of this ship.

(e) Information concerning characteristics of the bottom, including
holding ability was considered adequate. Holding ability of the
bettem at both Baiwetok and Bikini was cmsidered goed even in

winds up te 30 mots with large ground swells.

(a) Track charts for all shots while ship was mderway are included

herewith as enclosures (3), (4) and (5).

1. Bikini = boat poel equipment and schedules are adequate.

Weekend travel was difficult due to lack of scheduled boat

trips. M boats passed up Tango at the dip om 18 May 1958. It
was approximately me half loaded and BENNER had liberty

party an deck waiting. LCU service to Japtan is adequate. Re~

commend that all boats awaiting the retum of the liberty
party from Japtan be at the LCU ramp om Parry om time. Further
recommend that several trips be made from Japtan to Parry during the course of the liberty hours for the retum of persennel
designated by the SP Officer or those desiring to returm early.

Present schedule necessitates retention of “troublesome*® cases
util end of liberty hours on Japtan with no facilities avail~
able to the SP Officer for these cases.

(4) No unauthorised craft were encomtered in the danger area.

(a) BENNER was designated SAR destroyer for shet NUIMEG and patrelled
a 5 mile lang track m course 050°F = 230°T, six (6) miles east
of Fniwetok Island am 21 and 22 May.

(b) BRINER was SAR destroyer m 22 May fer emergency landing of. Baircraft om Baiwetek Island.
