Project 22,3 + S-Unit Monitoring and High Explosive Transit Time - C. E. Ingersoll
E, C, Woodvard
The technique used for monitoring the S-unit consisted of telemetertye
signals from signal sources in the immediate neighborhood of the
(Apache) device by high frequency radiofrequency methods to a rRetving ar
recording station locate! on Parry,
The signals vere then recorde! on
oscilllographs.
The signal sources were the load ring pules of tbe Yeunit am! the
output of a fluor - photomultiplier detector near the S-unit which measure
both the S-unit output and the game rays from the nuclear reaction.
)
The oscillograph displays consiste! of a raster sc-pe display containing
all signals and a linear eveep display on a 517 cacillogreph which showed
greater detail of the load ring pulse signal an’ the S-unit signal,
The results of the measurement are as follows:
Time from berinning of Y-unit load ring pulse to begirning of
S-unit pulse =
Yield of S-unit
