FIBAL REPORT J. C. &. BYALUATION BQARD FOR OPERATION
CROSS ROADS.

Attached hereto are jplearance memoranda on the J.C.5, Svaluation

Board's final Repert on Operation Crossroads from the Wilitary Application Division

and from the Declassifiaation Officer at Oak Ridge.

2. Deolascifioation and Military Application agree in their reaommendstione, in whieh they strongly urge shat the portions of the Report mirked
,

therein and identified in semorandum from the Military Application Division be

deleted for reasone of seourity.

3. Both Military Applioetion and DeolassiMoation recommond that certain
data relating to effects of the bon may be released if the Armed Foraea determine that these data have no military significance, ewen though suoh data
are now covered by the Deglassifiertion Guide. It 19 recommended that the

Joint Chiefs of Staff be advised that such data should be re-examined ty J.0.5,

to determine the military signifiomnce of the data, and upon such determination
the Commission will remove tha data from the restrioted oatefory.

Public release of the final ke-ort of the J,C.8, Evaluation Soard

will have heavy impact. Tho effeot of the conelusions and recommendations in
Part 3 of the Report will of aourse be diluted by the press attention whieh

will be given to paragraph |, in the coneluding observation on page 52.
