February 17, 1954 Dear Mr. LeBaron: Reference is made to your letter of December 17, 1953*#which requested information pertaining to REDWING and any other new tests that may be contemplated: The tentative date for REDWING, as you indicated in your letter, remains the fall of 1955 or the spring of 1956, Until CASTLE results are evaluated, it will be impossible to determine the scope of, or more precise date for REDWING.. Insofar as any new tests are concerned, consideration is being given to the possibility of conducting in early 1955 & simple overseas test operation with a minimum of instrumentation and logistical support. However, no firm plans have been made for such a test at this time. The ultimate decision as to the advisability of conducting a test of this nature will also hinge largely on interpretations of CASTLE results. The Commission will keep you advised of any developments in regard to the above matters as our plans become clearer. Sincerely yours, Lewis L.
