Joint Director of ANL-MURA
Mz, Libby commented on his telephone conversation with
Chancelior Kimptozn concerning a discussion among Chenceilor
Kimpton, Mr. Alvin Graves and Father Hesburgh about the
possible appointment of Mr, Graves as the Director of ANL and
of the MURA accelerator project. Mr. Libby said Mr. Graves
would also meet with Mr, Williams, Fresident, of MURA, on
July 12, Mr. Vance added that he had received a letter from
Father Hesburgh concerning the meeting with Mr. Graves.
During the above discussica, Mr, Murray entered the
meeting.

AEC 787/34 - Foreign Obser ‘cr Briefing at REDWING
General Starbird reviewed material to be presented ata
briefing for British and Canadian observers at Operation REDWING,
Mr. Murray indicated that he hac not anticipated that the briefing
would be as extensive as outlined in Appendix ‘‘B'’ of AEC 787/34,
and inquired why such detailed infcrmation was to be disclosed.
General Starbird said the briefing had been prepared so that it
might be of assistance to the U.K. and Caneda in planning their
