es 1 tah: Maj. General Percy W. Clarkson Commander, Joint Task Force #7 Washington 25, D. C. Dear General Clarkson: During Operation CASTLE we are planning a program of radiological monitoring of the Pacific Islands which will be similar in scope to the survey we conducted during IVY. Mr. Merril Eisenbud who will again supervise this program, has recently conferred at Pearl Harbor with members of the CINCPAC staff. The attached report of his visit summarizes our present thinking as regards the scope and method of implementation of the CASTLE survey. As was true during IVY, the success of this program will depend on effective liaison with your command, It is also desirable that the support which you so effectively extended our program during IVY again be available to us. I will appreciate your designating a senior member of your staff to serve as liaison officer for our program, An early meeting with him is desirable, OPENNET ENTRY Very truly yours, t tl Authanzed tor Public Release i By Date: Crrered In QnenNet ry . : Date: " Buen’ zee ter Pubhe release - mnclosures Rieport | | of f | oo Visit Visit John C.
