Atomic Energy Commission Honolulu, Hawaii 4 96820 CO OGS GC Dear Bill, Attached herewith is a report on a preliminary test of radioactivity in coconut crabs in Eniwetok collected in 1972 by Dr. Ariel Roth of Loma Linda University. This work was peripheral to the principal research being pursued by Dr. Roth, but in view of the AEC's expressed interest in the levels of radioactivity in Birgus latro, the coconut crab that is relished by the Marshallese, I urged Dr. Roth to pursue this investigation. Dr. Roth is presently at Eniwetok and will be there through the entire month of January. Should you have any questions on the report I suggest you attempt to contact him there or upon his return at Loma Linda University. I am sending copies to Drs. Nervik and Osterberg who I believe will have a direct interest in this report. As you are more familiar with others within the AEC who might find this information useful, I am sending it to you for copying and distribution as you deem it appropriate. yourssidcere (fT, c 4 4 \.
