Dear Ed, I really feel sorry for Dr. R. A. Conard. change his name to Conrad since no the fact that it is not Conrad. He should really -e can ever seem to accept I have known Dr. Conard since 1946. He has been intimately connected with the national programs on the study of the effects of radiation upon mankind. In parallel he has been a creative scientist. Since 1955 he has been responsible for the continuing medical care and study of the Marshallese who were exposed accidentally to fallout radiation, This study has been carried on in a very commendable manner. In this capacity he has performed a great service to the United States Government, the United Nations and to mankind. Dr. Conard is a cooperative and personable individual. He is a good lecturer and has been well liked by the post-doctoral fellows who have worked with him. He has not had any direct experience as an educator other than at the post-doctoral level. His areas of expertise and research are intimately connected with the work of Dr. Arthur Upton. He is a permanent member of the Brookhaven staff. Sincerely yours, Eugene P. Cronkite, M. D. Chairman
