The purpose of the trip was to confer with a group of the Rongelap people and
establish the proposed buildings in the correct location, and also to tie all
proposed buildings to base lines to furnish all information necessary to draw
up plot plans of the three village areas on Aneaetok, Rongelap, and Jabwaan
Islands.
At 1330 hours, 11 July 1956, the seaplane arrived with the following personnel:

The writer took the entire party ashore at Aneatok and all building requirements
as set forth later in this report were staked out and tied into the base line.
Party returned to ship at 1830 hours.
Later that evening the LST steamed north and anchored out from Melin and Gabelle
Islands.
At 0630 hours on 12 July 1956 the party went ashore on Gabelle Island
and located a cistern, which is required for working parties.
Shallow water for
1500 to 2000 feet out from this island will make it necessary to use a DUKW equipped
with a mono rail for the proposed cistern construction.
