General Luedecke advised me this date that he had taken a specific reading
with the Navy regarding their supporting Taongi. He stated that the reaction
was quite unfavorable and that the Navy would be extremely hard pressed
and quite reluctant to provide the support required. He hasstated to the DOD
people that if the CommiSSionrtects favorablyonthis proposal that the DOD
would be assured an opportunity to comment prior to the final decision by
the Commission.
