DESCRIPTION Bowand stern moorings provide safe anchorage to ships engaged
in supply and support in the relatively confined waters of the harbor. Under the
direction of JTF -8, mooring designs were prepared by the Department of the
Navy, Bureau of Yards and Docks. Installation was accomplished under Bu Docks
contract NBY-63137 which also included the construction of an armored revetment
for shoreline protection and installation of NAV-AID facilities. (Completed in
1965.)
