Benign Tumors
Thyroid nodules will be discussed in Section X.C.1, below.

A number of

other benign tumors, such as sebaceous cysts and lipomas, have been detected
in both exposed and unexposed populations, and many have been removed. The

number of such tumors appeared to be in the normal range of expectancy. Other
benign tumors included a giant cell type removed from the finger of an exposed
Rongelap female and a neurofibroma removed from the neck (near the thyroid) of

an exposed Rongelap female.
