Refer to the assembly drawing of the machine and the parts list.
Uncouple the machine and remove the foot bolts holding it to the
foundation, and transport the complet2 unit to some area permitting easy
accessibility.
On the sliv ring machines remove the dripproof covers and raise the
brushes away from ths rings.

Place a piece of cardboard or heavy canvas

between the brushnolders and the rings to prevent marring or scratching
of the rings when the rotor is removed.

Cisconnect the rotor leads from

the brushholders,
Loosen the inner bearing caps by removing the holding-on screws and
back off the brackets.

Teke off the ball bearing lock nuts and lock

washers, and press off the ball bearings with a bearing puller.

Replace

the bearing lock nuts on the rotor shaft to prevent any damage to the
threacs,

‘lide the rotor out of the machine taking care not to damage

ny coils or coil connections.

Remove the serews holding any fans to

tne rotor, snd take off the fans,

ASSEMBLY
reverse the preceding procedure, taking care not to damage the
windings or the slip rings, and being sure that all macnined surfaces
are clean so that all the parts will fit together properly.
