Mr. Libby reviewed the Commission decision on AEC 952/34 at
Meeting 1343 earlier in the day. Mr. Strauss requested that efforts
be made to emphasize that invitations to observers at nuclear tests
are extended jointly by the AEC and DOD.

AEC 912/8 - Exchange Guide for Transmittal of Atomic information
by the DOD to Australia
With reference to the Commission's approval of AEC 912/8 at
Meeting 1343, Mr. Strauss said he wished to state for the record
his approval of the recommendations of the staff paper.

AEC 646/57 - Ad Hoc Committee on AEC-Industrial Relations
Mr. Libby informed Mr. Strauss that at Meeting 1343 Mr. Fields
had withdrawn AEC 646/57. After a review of the question of an
ad hoc committee on AEC industrial relations, recommendations
would be submitted to the Commission on the establishment of a
responsible group within the Commission for receiving and evaluating
comments by private industry about AEC's industrial policies and for
recommending changes suggested by industrial groups,
Mr. Strauss commented on the Commission's previous experience with
the Industrial Advisory Committee which had not been successful. He added
that if a similar group were to be established, it should be composed of
highly qualified individuals who would serve on a rotating basis.
The Commissioners_then requested consideration of the establishment
of a committee of industrial representatives to advise AEC on industrial
atomic energy matters and to serve as a liaison group between AEC and
industry generally.

AEC 194/39 - Allied Chemical and Dye Corporation Contract
With reference to the Commission's approval of AEC 194/39 at
Meeting 1343, Mr. Strauss expressed his concurrence in this decision.
*Subsequent to this Meeting, the General Manager reported to the Secretary
that on March 21, 1958, Mr. Strauss had withdrawn his request for deferral
of action on AEC 781/87.
