Objective and Purpose The Biklrd and Eniwetok Atolls were extensively used during the 1950’s for nuclear tests necessitating displacement of Individuals who were living on these two atolls. The rehabilitation of the Bikini Atoll and resettlement of people on 3ikini and Eneu islands has been approved and the project is now underway. Regarding Eniwetok, it is anticipated that rehabilitation of the atoll and resettlement of people on the atoll is a possibility in the near future. . The Secretary of the Interior has stated he will look to AEC for support in the radiological safety aspects of the Bikini and Eneu resettlement ( program and NV has been funded by the Division of Operational Safety for participation in the fir%t ofa series of periodic Bikini radiologi- cal field resurveys, planned for May 1972. In view of the possible rehabilitation of Eniwetok an add-on general radiological survey and cleanup study of the atoll will also be conducted during this period, The Bikini Atoll radiological survey will include sampling of soil, air, sea and well water, terrestrial and marine organisms and agricultural crops, as well as measurements of radiation levels in any collected scrap metal and gamma levels in and around structures on Bikini Island. Large volume water samples and goat fish will be collected from Eneu Island. A gamma survey will also be made on all islands visited. Soil, fish, and sea water samples will be collected from the region of Bravo crater and Namu Island.
