Professor Jose M, Otero
President

Nuclear Energy Board
CAlle de Serrano 121

Madrid, Spain

Dear Professor Otero:

The biomedical research program which was established in February
1966 as a cooperative activity between the Junta de Energia Nuclear
and the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission continues to be of interest
to the Commission.
You will recall that the program was extended through December 31,
1968 by your letter of September 15, 1967. We would be pleased to
receive from you a current description of work planned for CY 1969
and an evaluation of funding requirements in general accord with
principles previously established, This information is needed in
order for our Division of Biology and Medicine to take appropriate
program action,
We propose that USAEC funds would be authorized through the U. S.
Embassy in Madrid in the same manner as has been used in the past,
We look forward to an early response and to continuation of this
useful cooperation,
Sincerely,

{s/
