‘we’ - OG 1 UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR TRUST TERRITORY OF THE PACIFIC ISLANDS ‘OFFICE OF THE HIGH COMMISSIONER SAIPAN, MARIANA ISLANDS COMMERCIAL CABLE ADDRESS HICOTT SAIPAN September 20, 1968 Mr. William Bonnet Manager Honolulu Area Office Atomic Energy Commission Honolulu, Hawaii Dear Mr. Bonnet: As a sequel to our now widely publicized expedition to Bikini, we are attempting to put together reports and data which can provide the basis for a meaningful and realistic redevelopment progran. As you probably are aware, two representatives of the Atomic Energy Commission were members of the Bikini party. They were Lt. Col. A. A. Gomes, Headquarters AEC DMA Test Office, Washington, and Tom McCraw, also of the Washington office. The purpose of their participation was primarily to identify objects and areas containing residual contamination. We have yet to determine the magnitude of the task confronting us to clear the areas for redevelopment. It would be helpful if we could obtain from you, or from some other AEC office, maps, charts or drawings showing the location and design of various facilities which were constructed by the AEC and/ or Holmes & Narver in the Bikini atoll area, I am enclosing a copy of a letter I have written to Holmes & Narver on this subject. es I shall be passing through Honolulu some time toward the end of October and hope to have the opportunity to discuss this matter with you, if you are available at that time.
