JUNE 27, 1969

On May 6, 1969, I sent a coemmnication to Edward BE. Johnston
whose appointment as Trust Territory High Ccoumlesioner had just

been confirmed by the Senate.

My message fovited him to visit

wy office for a briefing on the Bikini Cleanup Project and other
programe in which the ARC wae involved in the Trust Territory ares
of the Pacific.

Bacause of previous couniteents relating to his

new appointment, Mr. Johuston advised me he would be unable to
accept my invitation until June 27. On that date we had @ discussion
which lasted for about one end onechalf hours. Those participating
in the meeting were:

The following itans wore the principel matters discussed:

A generel explanation was given regarding the orgenizetional relationship of BASA, JT¥-8, JTG 6.5 QIAQ) and
JTG 8.8 (Bikini Atoll). Our standard briefing viewgraphs
were used, The relationship cf the Hulnes & Narver
organization to the AEC and to the JTF-8 was explained
fn considerable detail.

The history, planning, deployment end present status of
the Bikini Cleanup Project were given. It was pointed
out that Vice Admiral Licyd M, Mustin is the Project
Manager for the Bikini Cleanup Program and in this
capacity acts for both the ARC end the DOD,
