In earlyJanuary1948,the requirementfor establishment
at Rongerik,Majuroand Wake were finalized. Basedon expeotedstrengths
of approximately
40, it was decidedthat oompletehousekeepingsupplies
and equipmentfor 50 man camps,includinggeneratorsand distillation
units,
wouldmeet the requirementfor the Rongerikand Majurodetachments.The
Wake detachmentwas to be billetedand messedby Pan Amerioaninstallations alreadyat Wake. On this basis,suppliesand equipmentwere assembled on Oahu for shipmentto Kwajaleinwhere they would be trans-shipped
under CTG 7.7.supervision.
Priorto shipent of suppliesfrom Oahu, the Rongerikand Majuro
detachmentcommandersassistedby CTG 7.7 made an on the groundreconnaissanceand returnedto Oahu to verify that all itemsrequiredhad been
furnished. It is consideredparticularlyimportantfor smallstationof an
isolatednature,that early and thoroughadvanoereoonnaissanoe
be made for
logistiopurposes.
