AEC, the staffcame to the conolupion that housekeeping facilities would
be required at Eniwetok for ●pproximately 2,300 personnel, inoluding
Army, Navy and oiviliana. It was believed that materials for one atandatd
1,000 man semi-permanent
oamp and 3 - 200 man temporaryoamps,plus the
alreadyat Enl.watok,
would meet this requirementfor acaominstallations
modations.
In order not to interferewith permanentoonstruction
uhioh the Navy
had underuuy at Kwajalein,it was deoidedthat oonotruotion
of a tent
oamp wouldmost efficientlymeet the requirementfor the Air Ta8k Group,
uhiohwould oonsistof a planned2,000personnel. It was estimatedthat
●pproximately200 oonstruotionengineers,in additionto the servioesof
oertainNavy ●dministeredeontraotorpersonnelalreadyat Kwa$alein,
wouldmeet the personnelrequirementsfor erectionof this osmp.
Based on these oonclusiona,
bills of materialand requirements
for
personnelwere drawn up for the oonstruotion.After the on-the-site
reoonnaissanoe,
thes. listswere amendedto refleotthe aotualconditions
of the facilitiesat Miuetok and Kuajaleln. Miscellaneous
construction
requirements
were placedon the Joint Task Force up untilapproximately
1 April 1948.
