The amendment involvedthe deletionof the line indicatingthat one of the Deputy Co-ders (AdmiralParsons)comanded the Naval Task Group,since AdmiralDenebrinkhaa been designatedas Naval Task GroupC&nander by the Chiefof Naval Operationsin amemrsndumto the JointChiefs of Staffdated 16 October1947, (JCS 1795/7)0 This change,withouta corresponding changein the Air Task Group comand channel,resulted in an unbalancedorganization which continuedto causesome confusion even in laterphasesof the operation,as GeneralKepner,on the Air Force side,remainedboth DeputyCcmander and Commander,~ 3 SectionIII Forces.
