Lawrence Radiation Laboratory publications relating to health chemistry equipment and techniques, ventilation

Laboratory facilities, equipment and personnel photographs. Subjects documented in this series include design,
construction, andalterationofall air treatment engineering equipment at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory

(formerly the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory) for the time period covered and air sampling for local
radioactivity and radioactivefallout (also included in these records are somefiles of Myron D. Thaxter of the
Health Chemistry Department, relating to air sampling, dating back to 1951). Young joined the Laboratory in
1955 as a Chemistand retired in 1991 as the head of the Environmental Health and Safety Departmentand the
Deputy Division Director of the Occupational Health Division. As these records documenthis early career as
well as the operations of a key environment, health and safety unit at LBL, they have both historical and
epidemiological value and should be retained permanently.

“Filters, General," from a memorandum to Mike Thaxter from from Jack Murrow dated February 20, 1961,"
