Under the current plans, our field trip shall commence in Kwajalein on August 25 and conclude there on September 14. During this trip, bioassay and environmental activities shall be conducted and a total of 5 days at Rongelap, Utirik and Ujelang will be required to accomplish our trip objectives. The following paragraphs outline BNL's activities at each atoll. For Utirik Atoll, whole body counting, urine bioassay, environmental sampling and repair of the wind generator shall bé the trip goals. Table 1 lists the individuals who were whole body counted in 1974 and 1977. We would like to have these individuals participate in this year's urine and whole body counting bioassay programs. In addition to this group, additional persons can be counted up to a total counting limit of 100 persons. Environmental sampling will also be conducted, plus an attempt to repair the wind generator. At Rongelap, we expect to perform the same activities as those outlined for Utirik. Table 2 lists the minimum individuals whom we wish to examine. due to the short duration of our stay, should not exceed 100 persons. Again, the maximum number of participants On our way to Ujelang from Rongelap, we need to return to Kwajalein for a change of personnel. With this concluded, we can proceed to Ujelang. Once there, we would like about 100 participants in our urine and whole body counting programs. Because we have no documentation concerning residence histories or demographic data for this population, we can only suggest the type of people to be examined. We would like approximately 75 persons who have been to Enewetak, 25 persons who have resided at Ujelang for the last 2 years but have never been to Enewetak, and 10 others who have not been to a radiologically contaminated atoll. We expect that a crew of five persons will be adequate to perform all of the work. At this time, the team members will be Bob Miltenberger (BNL), Ed Lessard (BNL), Joe Balsamo (BNL), Bob Sherwin (Enertech Corp.) and Anant Moorthy (BNL).
