Summary of Enemy Situation

The world political situation as cf 15 August 1953
shows a general picture of widespread political
unrest in the following areas:

The undeclared war in Korea between the Red
Chinese and the UN fsrces has ended since the
Signing of a truce agreement. Peace talks are
continuing with the Red Chinese government.
The process of exchanging prisoners of war, for
a long time the stumbling biock for a peace
settlement, has commenced. Since the death
of Stalin, the USSR has adopted an outwardly
more conciliatory attitude toward the western
world,
In Indo-China, the Viet Minh battalions are in-
creasing their warfare against the French
government forces.
The government in Iran hag continued with a
growing anti~American and arnti-British attitude
and shows less ability te cope with the situation.
This country is susceptible to further infiltration by Communiets.
In Argentina. the government is faced by in-
creasing tension as evidenced by bombings
and acts of terrorism, The struggle in this
area is Peron or anti-Peron rather than Commmists.
