Project 1.3 - Shock Photography - J. Petes
OBJECTIVES
To study the mechanical effects of a water surface on shock
propagation,
To study the thermal effects, if any, resulting from heating
of air near the ground surface on shock transmission,
To determine peak shock overpressure as a function of distance both at the surface (water) and above ground zero,
INSTRUMENTATION
The instrumentation for this shot consisted of smoke rocket
photography,
Rockets were fired from a station on Eniirikku approximately
6000' from ground zero,
The cameras were located on Enyn.
RESULTS
The rocket instrumentation and the photographic instrumentation
were successful,
The films were of very high quality and can be used to obtain
all three objectives.
The preliminary inspection of the films shows no thermal effects
in the field of view of project films,
