Jette SUBJECT: Recent Accident in Operation Sandstone SYMBOL: LAB-DIR Four Los Alamos scientists, 7 have sustained radiation injuries to their hands as a result of exposure to beta raya at - Operation Sandstone. The injuries consist of skin damage limited to the hands. The general condition of all men is excellent. There are no blood changes or other indications that they received a serious amcunt of totel body gamma radiation. It should be pointed out that beta- ray injuries are more superficial and, in general, less serious than gasmea radiation injuries.
