At this point Messrs. Smith and Manov and General Fields left the

Doctor Bugher reported that at a conference held
in Washington on January 9 - 10, 1954, a complete review
had been made of data accumulated by Project SUNSHINE,
He briefly reviewed the general status of the project and
observed that good progress had been made in recent
months, One problem continued to be uncertainty concerning debris from the Mike shot in the IVY operation,
Thus far less than 5% of the debris could be accounted for,
On the other hand, available evidence on the strontium-90
content of soils indicated that this was what it might have
“been expected to be if the debris from the Mike shot
had fallen,
"
Doctor Bugher further discussed with the Commissioners
various specific aspects of the SUNSHINE study and said
that a report on the recent conference would be circulated
to the Commission, (See AEC 278/7, subsequently circulated.)
