ACS AS 4b October 9, 1968 Robert A, Conard, M.D, Brookhaven National Laboratory Associated Universities, Inc, Upton, L. I., New York Dear Dr. Conard; Re: 11973 Lease agreements,Rongelap Pleegie refer to Mr. Tindal's letter to you of August 15, 1968, regarding the above. When in Majuro at the end of August I discussed the matter of the Rongelap lease with Senator Amata Kabua, He did not seem to have any objection to the lease. I was not able to talk with Lejellan Kabua, but left the matter with Mr. Oscar deBrum, Administrative Officer, Marshall Islands District, for discussion with Lejellan when the latter returned to Majuro, To date I have heard nothing, and am writing to Mr. deBrus today to enquire into its status. It is possible that Lejellan is hold- ing up signature pending discussions with me on other natters involving several islands in the Kwajalein atoll. I plan to go to Majuro soon to confer about these, and will also discuss the Rongelap lesse. Yours very truly, meooy COPY AVAILABLE John DBD.
